LAGOS, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's contingent to this year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland will perform well at the event New York Rangers Jersey , said the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) on Monday.


Sani Ndanusa, president of the Olympic Committee in Nigeria, gave the assurance at the reception for the Queen's Baton Relay which arrived in Abuja of Nigeria from Accra of Ghana.


The 2014 edition of the Games which is the 20th edition will be held from July 23 to Aug. 3.


Ndanusa said preparations were on course to ensure that Nigeria surpassed its achievements in the last edition which held in Delhi Andrew Ladd Jersey , India in 2010.


Team Nigeria placed 9th on the Delhi Games medal table with 11 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals.


Nigeria also secured the second position behind South Africa among African nations that participated in the Delhi Games.


Ndanusa said NOC would ensure that athletes prepared well for the biennial sports fiesta.


He added that Team Nigeria would have a harvest of medals in all the sports they would feature in.


Nigeria will participate in six sports namely athletics, wrestling John Tavares Jersey , weightlifting, table tennis and boxing in both the male and female categories.


The baton, which was flagged off by the Queen of England on Oct. 9 New York Islanders Jersey , 2013 would travel around 70 countries over a period of 288 days.


The baton, which has the Queen's Commonwealth message will cover 190,000km and involve a third of the world's population Nico Hischier Jersey , making it the world's most engaging relay.


The baton will terminate its journey in Glasgow on July 23 at the opening of the Games where the Queen will remove her message and read it aloud to officially declare the Games open.


Nigeria is one of the 70 countries participating in the 11-day event that would feature 17 sports and 261 medal events.
