a pulled rickshaw; a twowheeled passenger cart pulled by a human runner

A pulled rickshaw (or ricksha) is a mode of humanpowered transport by which a runner draws a twowheeled cart which seats one or two persons. Rickshaws are commonly made with bamboo. In recent times the use of rickshaws has been discouraged or outlawed in many countries due to concern for the welfare of rickshaw workers.[1] Runnerpulled rickshaws have been replaced mainly by cycle rickshaws and auto rickshaws. The term rickshaw is today commonly used for those vehicles as well.

a cycle rickshaw, also called a pedicab

The cycle rickshaw is a smallscale local means of transport; tiffany uk stores it is veste moncler also known by a variety of other names such as veste moncler velotaxi, tiffany uk stores pedicab, bikecab, cyclo, becak, trisikad, or trishaw or, simply, rickshaw which also refers to auto rickshaws, and the, now uncommon, rickshaws pulled by a person on foot. Cycle rickshaws are humanpowered, a type of tricycle designed to carry passengers in addition to the driver. They are often used on a for hire basis. Cycle rickshaws are widely used in major cities around the world, but most commonly in cities of South, Southeast and East Asia.

an auto rickshaw, also called a tuktuk, bajaj, mototaxi, or baby taxi

An auto rickshaw or threewheeler (tuktuk, trishaw, auto, rickshaw, autorick, bajaj, rick, tricycle, mototaxi, or baby taxi in popular parlance) is a usually threewheeled cabin cycle for private use and as a vehicle for hire. It is a motorized version of bottega veneta borse 2013 the traditional pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Auto rickshaws are an essential form of urban transport in peuterey outlet on line many developing countries, and a form of novelty transport in many Eastern countries.

Rickshaws were first seen in Japan around 1868, at the beginning of the Meiji Restoration. They soon became a popular mode of transportation since they were faster than the previously used palanquins (and human labor was considerably cheaper than the use of horses).

The identity of the inventor remains uncertain. Some American sources give the American blacksmith Albert Tolman, who is said to have invented the rickshaw around 1848 in Worcester, Massachusetts, for a missionary. Still others say the rickshaw was designed by an American Baptist minister in 1888. This is undoubtedly incorrect, for an 1877 article by a New York Times correspondent in Tokyo stated that the "jinrikisha, or manpower carriage" was in current popular use, and was probably invented by an American in 1869 or 1870.

In many major cities, bicycle rickshaws or pedicabs can be found in some tourist areas and are mainly used for short tourist sightseeing rides as ecofriendly alternatives to taxi cabs and mass public transportation (except in New York City, where the pedicab has been serving as alternative taxi transportation for many years).

As a key part of the urban landscape in many cities, cycle rickshaws have been the subject of films and other artwork, as well as being extensively decorated themselves. The cycle rickshaw in Dhaka is especially well known as a major medium for Bengali folk art, as plasticine cutouts and handpainted figures adorn many cycle rickshaws.[17]

Films featuring cycle rickshaws and their drivers include Kickboxer and Sammo Hung's 1989 martial arts film Pedicab Driver, which dealt with a group of pedicab drivers and their problems with romance and organized crime. Cyclo, a 1995 film by Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung, is centered on a cycle rickshaw driver. Tollywood films with cycle rickshaw themes include Orey Rickshaw ("Orey" literally means "Hey", in a derogatory tone), which tells a story sympathising with the downtrodden, and Rickshavodu ("Rickshaw Guy".

I love a bit from the past and a touch of the future. Victorian flair and high tech mix so beautifully together. Robots are changing our lives: whether they are making their way into the operating rooms as surgeons, fighting wars, or manufacturing new products, You can come to count on their existence to not only be helpful in many new exciting ways, but also to fascinate us; as they continue to develop innovating ways to integrate themselves into our human experience. With that said, there has never been a more pertinent time to introduce yourself and those around you to robotics, nanotechnology, cybernetics, and all things relating to future technology.
