An aromatic gift for bath and body

Shop Talk: An aromatic gift for bath and body

GIFT OF PAMPERING . . . Garden Botanika, 250 University Ave. in Palo Alto, has a great gift package for anyone who deserves a little pampering. The Aromatics Bag contains five different bath and body products, a 4ounce bath and shower gel, a 4ounce shampoo, bath crystals, an 8ounce body lotion, glycerin bar soap and a bath sponge packaged in a drawstring bag. The whole kit is $15 and is available in your choice of scents: Mango, Cassis, Almond Creme, Morning Rain or Summer Berry.

JEWELRY EXTRAVAGANZA . . . The American Cancer Society Discovery Shop in Los Altos announces a special jewelry sale just in time for the holidays. Discovery Shop solicited donations of costume jewelry, novelty jewelry, seasonal jewelry and fine jewelry in November and now will sell the collection. Check the selection on Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. at 243 Main Fashion Jewelry Online St. in Los Altos.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT . . . For an unusual gift, consider shopping at Flowers On Monday, a locally owned subscription service that delivers fresh cut seasonal floral bouquets to homes and offices, only on Mondays. The service can provide a vase to start, but for a more personal touch, buy a special vase you think your "giftee" will really love. The floral subscriptions start at $9.50 per week and onemonth to 12month subscriptions are available. Call 1800MONDAYS.

ORNAMENTAL ART . . . Art glass collectors will recognize the name of glass artist Sonja Blomdahl. Her work is included in private and public collections including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Craft Museum and The White House Collection of American Crafts. Blomdahl has created a blown glass, limited edition ornament exclusively for Nordstrom. Each ornament is mouth blown with a transparent colored glass base in round or pear shape with a contrasting glass spiral. The ornaments, which are $35 each, are signed by the artist and packaged in a collectible storage box. You'll find them in the Gift Gallery at Nordstrom, Stanford Shopping Center.

IT'S A WRAP . . . Your Stanford Shopping Center purchases can be gift wrapped right at the center at All Wrapped Up. The gift wrap service, which is complimentary, is provided by Ronald McDonald House volunteers. Bring in your gifts and choose one of six different wrap styles. Any donations you make for the service will benefit Ronald McDonald House. Last year volunteers wrapped about 10,000 gifts and collected $28,000 in donations. All Wrapped Up is located in Lady Ellen Place, next to the Stanford Shopping Center Concierge.

PARTY FAVORS . . . Start Christmas dinner off with a bangnot a firecracker, but a very polite, Englishstyle Christmas cracker. Wick Candle Shops, at Town Country Village in Palo Alto and the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park, carry a variety of Christmas crackers. Pull them open with a snap, and you'll find an amusing little trinket, a tissue paper hat Cheap Trendy Jewelryy or crown and a joke or riddle. Store owner Jim Hill says the crackers he carries are from Tom Smith, which is the "real McCoy" of Christmas crackers in England. Boxes of twelve crackers start at $13.95 and go up to $27.95. Better trinkets and perhaps funnier jokes are in the more expensive crackers! Jolly good fun, in any case.
